Since we started showing various types of Ice Cream Carts on the Web many questions have been generated.  We have decided to describe these units and attempted to answer as many questions as we possibly can to make the choice of a cart simple and hassle free.

There are basically two types of ice-cream carts.  The first is a regular PLUG-IN model which the operator has to keep plugged into electrical  power so that the unit maintains a cold enough temperature for the goods in it.  (It is in fact a freezer on wheels)

The second, is called a "Hold-Over" System.  This is a rechargeable unit which must be plugged in to a power source for varying amounts of time ranging from two to 14 hours (USUALLY OVERNIGHT) so that the cold plates have enough time to freeze up and give off their absorbed cold to the items in the box for a period of eight to 14 hours.  (much like a domestic cold pack used to cool down portable ice boxes)

The carts that are viewed on this site have been chosen for their efficiency and construction quality.  Although price is an important factor to consider when purchasing a cart, the most important consideration must be whether the cart does the job for which it is required.
